How it scores for you10 scores
A rugged three-row hauler with a 6,200-lb tow rating and top safety marks, but thirsty running costs and dated tech betray its long-running platform.
Recalled somewhat less often than cars of the same model years (over-the-air software recalls count half); 3 of its 23 recalls were serious. About 8% of its owner complaints describe a crash, fire or injury. Based on recalls and serious defect reports — it doesn't capture everyday repairs or problems fixed by warranty extensions. Adjusted -6 points for its wider reputation.
4-star overall NHTSA crash rating (frontal 4, side 5, rollover 3).
About $3,200 a year in fuel (EPA estimate) — cheaper to run than about 23% of cars we track.
17.2 cu ft of cargo space — more than about 19% of other SUVs we track.
Three rows seating 7, generous 84.5 cu ft max cargo and usable third row make it one of the more spacious mainstream midsize SUVs.
Base 293hp V6 is adequate but not thrilling; Durango offers strong V8/SRT/Hellcat options and RWD-based platform gives it car-like handling and towing confidence for a large SUV.
Uconnect infotainment is well-regarded and intuitive, but the aging platform (since 2011) shows dated interior tech and driver-assist features versus newer rivals.
Roomy, quiet cabin with comfortable seating and a smooth ride typical of the segment; three-row layout is family-friendly though materials lag premium competitors.
SUVs and hybrids usually hold their value better than average.
Rated to tow 6,200 lb; all- or four-wheel drive available.
