How it scores for you10 scores
One of the great affordable driver's cars in N form — huge grin-per-dollar in a cramped, firm-riding package that asks passengers to sit this one out.
Recalled about half as often as cars of the same model years; 1 of its 4 recalls was serious. About 2% of its owner complaints describe a crash, fire or injury. Based on recalls and serious defect reports — it doesn't capture everyday repairs or problems fixed by warranty extensions. Adjusted +2 points for its wider reputation.
Not yet crash-tested by NHTSA, so this is scored as middle-of-the-road.
About $2,150 a year in fuel (EPA estimate) — cheaper to run than about 67% of cars we track.
19.9 cu ft of cargo space — more than about 25% of other hatchbacks we track.
Still a four-seat, three-door layout with limited rear headroom; usable in a pinch, below any mainstream hatchback.
The Veloster N is a genuine hot-hatch benchmark — 275 hp, playful chassis, huge grin factor; even lesser trims are eager.
Standard touchscreen with CarPlay/Android Auto across the range; N adds performance displays, though driver-assist tech stays mid-pack.
Stiff suspension (extreme on N), pronounced road noise, tight rear seats; comfort clearly sacrificed to fun.
Typical resale value for a hatchback.
No published tow rating; front- or rear-wheel drive only.
