How it scores for you10 scores
A crash-safe, 8,300-lb-capable eight-seater with limousine-like space, but thirsty running costs and dated tech make it a truck-like haul, not a joy.
Recalled about as often as cars of the same model years; 4 of its 6 recalls were serious. About 6% of its owner complaints describe a crash, fire or injury. Based on recalls and serious defect reports — it doesn't capture everyday repairs or problems fixed by warranty extensions. Adjusted -2 points for its wider reputation.
5-star overall NHTSA crash rating (frontal 5, side 5, rollover 4).
About $3,700 a year in fuel (EPA estimate) — cheaper to run than about 8% of cars we track.
18.1 cu ft of cargo space — more than about 23% of other SUVs we track.
Full-size 8-seat SUV with three rows and huge 103 cu ft cargo with seats folded; generous room for people and gear, class-leading space.
Big body-on-frame luxury SUV with 380 hp is adequate but heavy and truck-like. Numb steering and body roll; strong towing but not engaging to drive.
3rd-gen Navigator (2007-2017) uses dated infotainment and MyLincoln Touch systems in later years; lacks modern driver-assist features standard on newer rivals.
Quiet cabin, cushy ride and roomy luxury seating suit long trips, though aging interior and older tech trail more modern full-size luxury SUVs.
Luxury brands like Lincoln tend to lose value faster than average.
Rated to tow 8,300 lb; all- or four-wheel drive available.
